Tooth Whitening Instructions:
Over time, teeth begin to get darker because of what we eat and drink. Bleaching or teeth whitening is an easy way to brighten your smile. First we take a set of impressions. From the models we make a custom tray which is used to hold the whitening gel. The gel is applied into the trays and is worn for 30 mintues-1hour for each application. It usually takes 7-10 applications to result in a more beautiful, whiter smile. |

- Before applying the bleach, brush and floss your teeth.
- Apply a small amount of bleach on the front surface of each tooth in the bleach trays, within the smile line. It is not necessary to place bleach in the last molars because they are not seen in the smile line.
- Place the trays in your mouth and gently push them against your teeth. This disperses the bleach around the teeth. Too much pressure will cause the bleach to leak out of the trays.
- Remove any excess bleach from the gum tissue, as this may cause irritation.
- Leave the trays in place for one hour or overnight.
- Do not eat, drink or use tobacco products while the trays are in place.
- After removing the trays, rinse with water and gently brush with your toothbrush. .
- Rinse out your mouth with water or mouthwash.
- Follow these instructions once per day for seven to ten days to achieve optimal results, or until your desired shade is reached. Bleaching results vary from person to person.
- Bleaching may cause your teeth to become sensitive. If this happens, you may first try bleaching every other or every third day. Use of a special sensitive toothpaste will also alleviate some sensitivity. If sensitivity still occurs, contact our office for a prescription strength fluoride to put in your trays.
- Regular dental checkups and cleanings are vital to keep a healthy smile. Teeth will naturally stain over time with coffee, tea, colas, tobacco, and other products. If this should occur, repeat steps one through seven for three applications or until the desired shade is met after your hygiene appointment. .
- Note: Crowns and fillings will not bleach. Only your natural teeth can be whitened.
